Frozen Fog

Recently we had the one and only snow for us so far this winter.  It has been a rather warm winter - we wish there had been more snow.  The kids were BUMMED at Christmas when there was not a hint of a flake in the sky.

Anyway...I digress....like I was saying...we recently had a little snow.  It was very short-lived.  The very next day the temps shot back up into the high 40s/low 50s.  So...that morning there was snow on the ground but the temps were getting warmer.  Fog was the result.  And it was FROZEN.  Now, I have seen prettier frozen fog than this once before.  But it's just not an everyday occurrence around here.  So, fortunately, I thought to grab my camera and ran outside and took a few pics before it all melted away.

....these are my favorites....

again...i just played with my editor until i got them looking a little nicer.  I had the camera set to the automatic "macro" setting for most of these.

Trip To The Tulsa Zoo

We went to the Tulsa Zoo this weekend.
We had SO MUCH FUN.
We practically had the place all to ourselves.
I've learned that the animals are much more active in 50 degree weather than they are in 90 degree summer weather.

Pops Along Route 66 in Arcadia, Oklahoma

We recently took a family trip to Pops in Arcadia, Oklahoma.  It is located along historic Route 66.  This is a gas station/restaurant full of hundreds of different flavors of bottled soda.  It is really a LOT of fun!  They have so many flavors it's almost impossible to pick one!  On this trip they had a first for me - Bacon Soda!  Yes, bacon.  They also had cucumber, sweet corn, pb&j and buffalo wing sauce.  Yes.  Personally, I say: GROSS!  I might try the cucumber flavor, but that is it.

In front of the store is this HUGE 66ft tall soda bottle.  It is a tradition to take our pictures in front of it.  Of course.  It lights up at night in all different colors.  Very cool.

Here are a few pics from the trip....

Marbles

My Sweet found some old marbles in the attic today.  I took several photos of them to list them on ebay.  This is my favorite marble of the bunch.  So cool!

What?!?! I'm Starting Another Blog?!?!?

Yes!  Yes, I am.

My name is Renee.  I love photography.  I always have.  I received my very first camera in 1983 when I was nine years old from my Grandma and Papa.  It was that long flat kind - you know - the one that used that 110 film! :)  I still have some of the pictures I took from that very first camera! Maybe one day I will post them.  Since then, I have loved photography.  It has always been a passion.  A hobby.  Something I enjoy.  I have tons of scrapbooks.  Many photobooks.  Now I have tons of folders online with pictures.  You should see all of the pictures I have posted to my FB account!!
I have always wanted to be a better photographer.  I am completely "green" as some would say.  (That's the term we would give all of the new 'baby doctors' at my first nursing job in a teaching hospital.)  Anyway - that's what I am with this photography stuff.  GREEN.
My sweet husband recently bought me my very first "fancy camera".  It is a Canon EOS Rebel T2i.  My husband picked it out.  I love it! So far, I'm only using the "auto" settings on everything.  But I am really enjoying playing with it.  My goal is to read blogs and books to teach myself the art of photography.
I have also started practicing editing.  Again.  I'm green.  I just play with the pictures until I think they look cool :)  I have no idea what I'm doing, really.
But I am having SO. MUCH. FUN. with my new camera.  And that's what counts.  Right?

Anyway...my goal is to take pretty pictures.  Pictures that make me happy.  And share them with you.  Whoever you are.  More than likely you will see many pictures of things I love about living in Oklahoma.  Or random things I see that catch my eye.  So, enjoy!

And please.  If you have any tips or knowledge you would like to share....SHARE!
